Conscientious, Fulfilled, and Spiritual

24 Renaissance, 7 Islamic, 15 Ukiyo-e, -34 Cubist, -36 Abstract and 12 Impressionist!

The Renaissance was a cultural movement that profoundly affected European intellectual life. Beginning in Italy, and spreading to the rest of Europe by the 16th century, its influence affected literature, philosopy, religion, art, politics, science, and all other aspects of intellectual enquiry. Renaissance artists looked at the human aspect of life in their art. They did not reject religion but tended to look at it in it's purest form to create visions they thought depicted the ideals of religion. Painters of this time had their own style and created works based on morality, religion, and human nature. Many of the paintings depicted what they believed to be the corrupt nature of man.

People that like Renaissance paintings like things that are more challenging. They tend to have a high emotional stability. They also tend to be more concientious then average. They have a basic understanding of human nature and therefore are not easily surprised by anything that people may do. They enjoy life and enjoy living. They are very aware of their own mortality but do not dwell on the end but what they are doing in the present. They enjoy learning, but may tend to be a bit more closed minded to new ideas as they feel that the viewpoint they have has been well researched and considered. These people are more old fashioned and not quite as progressive. They enjoy the finer things in life like comfort, a good meal, and homelife. They tend to be more spiritual or religious by nature. They are open to new aesthetic experiences.

Not a great picture, but it's kinda wedged into a corner.

I've never had anywhere to put my pretty dishes. I nearly cried as I was putting them in!

It's now the prettiest piece of furniture I own.

My kids were way too excited about V'Day today. I even had to make Anna a new skirt last night as all her other ones were not worthy. And I had to sew ears on Ellie's hat.

They are gonna be hepped up on sugar soon. Yeesh.

Carole's couch and my new cushions
Originally uploaded by mammatoni.

And I made them for ME and my house!

So many of my creations go right out my front door. I LOVE sharing the things I make, but rarely do I make something for myself. Our lovely couch had some pretty sad, old Ikea pillows on them. So I made some new pillow covers with sweet little ric rac trim on the edges. The fabric is a beautiful Alexander Henry home dec. fabric, so I'm going to give him most of the credit!

Look at my flickr pics for more detailed shots.

We've got some xmas money to spend ($400) and we're thinking about buying a digital video camera. Got any recommendations? We want one mostly for the girls to make movies and for other special moments/parties.

We just got back from being gone for a week in E. Wash.! With no computer access! And staying 2 days later than we really wanted because of the weather and a sick hubby!

We had a really nice time with my parents. They are pretty good at making Xmas special for the girls. I'll post pics later -- it's nice to be home! My kitty's on my lap. Aaaaah.

Wish me luck in the night ahead -- Ellie has 4 friends over for her b'day party. Luckily I like them all! One hasn't spent the night away (successfully) from her mom ever, so we could wake up with only 3 extra kids.

We're having mini pizzas on pita bread crust, and apple pie instead of cake.
